Goldener Stern - Melk

That is a nice little restaurant in a quiet star street through a family ( Papa is the cook, mother the hostess, and son of waiters. The atmosphere is warm and cheesy collector pieces decorate the window strips and shelves; a magnificent collection of filled toy bears from...all around the world watch you while you eat. The food is locally produced and delicious. Wonderful salad and homemade breads. Closed Sun Mon.

We found this restaurant last night of our trip. What a shame. A small, traditional Austrian restaurant. Intimate and comfortable in the front part of the restaurant. A friendly welcome and excellent service. The real star was the food. On this trip we have... in Salzburg and Judenburg. The food in this restaurant hit the lot. A dish of smoked ham, salad and goulash, lined with apple strudel and coffee. It was great. When we get back to Melk, we'll certainly eat here.

We stayed in Melk for several days and had dinner with friends in this unique home and restaurant. The food and service were very good. The young man taking the orders was very attentive. The food was local, fresh and very tasty. The chef was...quite creative with the specials and offerings. We were pleased that the locals also frequented the restaurant and appeared to really be enjoying themselves as well. Don't let one poor review spoil the opportunity to try this food. You'll be glad you did try it.

We were at the hotel and decided to eat there. We had a great meal, one of the best in Austria. My wife had grilled trout, which was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, I had bovine robes that were really tasty....Both dishes came with fresh pasta and spice sauce.
