The Montague 1869 - Neighbourhood Eatery

Went there as heard it was a great spot. Was not disappointed. The service was incredible Nick front of house made sure we always had food and drinks. The mulled cider was fantastic, have it with the spicy whiskey!! Seafood paella was definitely a dish you would go back for and the chef had freeze dried apple and put on the dessert. Wow. Little things like this made this little neighbourhood pub something special.

This is a great place in South Melbourne which is owned by some great people. The service is generally good but the food is somewhat hit and miss. We have had some great food there and some food which would have been sent back had the situation enabled it. Please understand, this isn't a bad review and I would recommend giving it a try although I hope you get the chef on a good day.

Had dinner here on the advice of a friend and was really surprised with how good it is. Menu is small but has something for everyone and the pub has a buzz about it. Will definitely be back when next visiting Melbourne

Called in for a quick bite to eat after a long and arduous work week. Staff were welcoming and friendly, gave us the option to sit in the restaurant for table service or in the bar area to order at the bar. Once seated in the table service area we were given our menus promptly and drink orders taken straight away. We both ordered burgers which were generous in size and tasty. The burger can be ordered with 1,2 or 3 patties. Chips were perfectly cooked. If they could do something about the sterile non existent atmosphere this place would be a winner

What a great spot! We tried several wines by the glass... Henry Frost Riesling, March's Very Own, the Beaumont Shiraz and a Keeper's Lager! Accompanied by the sharing of twelve mixed oysters, Mac 'n' cheese, Chix ribs and a delicious chocolate pudding! Congratulations to the chef for a variation on ordinary dishes made extraordinary and to Rom for his attentive service and chit chat. Venue seems very popular with the locals and it is easy to see why! We will return to work our way further through the menu!!!
