Bidrage med feedbackAlthough there are many Malaysian restaurants or restaurants offering Malaysian Malay cuisine, this place stands out by having a Malay cook. One standout feature is that it is HALAL. The dishes are authentic Malaysian with flavors, portion sizes, and prices similar to those found in an average hotel in Kuala Lumpur. In summary, you can't go wrong dining here. After a long day exploring the CBD, it's satisfying to end it with dishes like Milo Ais Nasi Lemak or Mee Rebus. This restaurant has become my go-to spot whenever I'm in Melbourne.
The nasi goreng is delicious and reasonably priced. The roti canai is even better than the nearby Mamak in Melbourne. The waitresses are Malaysian, making it easier to order, especially if you are Malaysian, Indonesian, or Singaporean. The only downside is that the decor is a bit outdated and gloomy.
On Latrobe street, not far from Queen Victoria Market, this venue has a good range of Malaysian dishes, served without fuss and ceremony. Importantly the dishes are freshly prepared, although there is a buffet/bain marie available that was in use by a large Malaysian contingent on the evening we visited. Our seafood classic curry laksa was nicely garnished with sprouts and spring onions and had the obligatory yellow egg noodle and spiced coconut broth with tofu and vegetables. The Char Hor Fun (flat rice noodles with thick egg gravy seafood and vegetables)was equally delicious but didn't have the liquid component to offer the occasional splash for the less careful eater. Other dishes cover the range of Malaysian cuisine (e.g. Nasi Goreng with rice and even western offerings such as lamb shanks and fish chips. Recommend stick to the authentic dishes and be pleasantly surprised with the saving of several dollars with the flavours of the individual spices and the value at about $10-$11 a dish. Recommended for a quick and tasty meal, the restaurant is happy to prepare meals with gluten free, nut free and attention to allergies and also arrange delivery within a 5km radius
