Cultured Salad - Melbourne

This place was lovely with great coffee, great service and lovely small bites to eat. The price for everything was good as well. The birds weren't a problem at all.

I’m serious. The thing that stands out most in my kind from a quick lunch stop here are the birds, the little chickadees that inhabit the place and are very comfortable dashing onto recently-emptied tables for some crumbs. Not a nuisance, just striking. Coffee was average, decent, a bit on the burnt side. Sandwich was as expected. Good value. Bonus, check along the walls for a few unobtrusive but functioning power outlets, great for a little recharge!

We only had morning tea there but the meals were very well-priced and the range of cakes was very good. It is unpretentious but the service was very fast and polite. Would definitely eat there on our next visit. Tea was served in a good-sized pot for $3.50 each.

The Cultured Salad was only a minutes’ walk away from our accommodation, so we thought, why not try a breakfast here. Located within the Walk arcade, this café is open for both breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks until 5pm. On offer, are a selection of wraps, focaccia’s, sandwiches, gourmet salads and even soup. There is also a specials board with all meals under the $10 mark, which seems to be the case in most café’s due to all the competition. We purchased the bacon, toast, eggs, (whatever style you like them) and this deal also came with your choice of coffee. Good food, good price and good strong coffee with plenty of seating as the café is larger than the many you will find within the CBD arcades and laneways.
