Claypots Evening Star - Melbourne

We went there again for a quick lunch - given we were at Sth Melbourne Masrket, it would have been wrong not to visit Claypots again.And very unimaginative we were as well - I had the same as last time; the grilled fish sandwich in ciabatta. Delicious - luscious - scrummy; add a glass of white wine as well and you are really having a treat. It's really just a snack from the bbq grill stall outside because there is a good proper restaurant and bar on the corner of the market building/ That has a lovely menu if you want something more substantial.We were happy to settle for the fish, bread and wine :-)

We spent a delightful hour at Claypots starting with a beer and oysters kilpatrick that were perfectly cooked. Followed by the Seafood Pie ..... it was delightful. A lovely hearty seafood sauce topped by a crips flakey pastry. The service was awesome and I really enjoyed watching the chef at work. I've already picked the next meal!

Popped in here recently to spend an afternoon with friends, wine and great food. Although crowded and busy, it added to the atmosphere of and the general feel of the South Melbourne Market dynamics. The service was a little slow at times but was nice not to be rushed. The seafood menu is diverse with plenty to choose from and didn't disappoint, it was delicious and worthy of the great reputation this place has. Loved the live music and the general busy yet inviting feel of the place. Looking forward to a return visit in the warmer weather to sample some more of the outstanding food.

Great seafood, good wine and live music, Claypots ticked all the boxes for us.We had the Crispy skin Dory, Greek salad and the crispy potatoes all fresh and well cooked. Have a seat at the bar and see how the chef works in confined space right in front of you.In short loved it and can't wait to head back for the seafood pasta (it looked amazing)

Limited seating indoor, however, on a good sunny day, sitting outside was very pleasant.The waitress was very helpful with selecting our dishes, which were all delicious. We had King Prawn, Calamari, john Dory, Clams, Barramundi wings, green beans and eggplants etc. plus wine to wash our lunch down.It was a very satisfying lunch !!
