Comfort food best! this is not a chic restaurant, but a clean, fast, hearty typical home meal fonda . Every time I go to medellin, is a meal here on my list. they can no longer be local than that!
Si usted quiere un menú casero, típico con una calidad insuperable y un precio bajo... La mejor comida de casa de Medellín
Filipe and his wife have opened this place twenty years ago. it's super busy and there's a lunch special, so I have to check it out. my primary care at a place like this is cleanliness. but if they get her to eat and that's cute. in plastic they know that they are anal, that everything is clean. for about $7 they can get delicious buds or suppe and then boils or pork grilled, rice, a half of the kartoffel, some salat and a plantain as well as a Coca-Cola. that is a lot of eating and enough variety to fill them. I like it is busy and the decoration with all these beautiful pin-ups and portraits of women from the 1700s on the walls. definitiw a “hidden jewel”
The only thing I wanted to add to the Colombian cuisine was good hot sauce. the owner (I think of Chilean nacionality) brought us not only a delicious and cheap food card del dia, but also the best homemade hot soaked in Colombia! he is also very friendly. the place is filled with native, has a beautiful, old-fashioned interieur, and is a little hard to find, as there is no name sign on the brand or window.
When I visited Medellin for the first time three years ago, I stumbled upon this place while walking around near the vicinity of Parque Lleras. My friend and I had walked for about two hours and by then, we were starving. We saw this "fonda" (small rustic popular restaurant) and it had a very nice crowd, so we dove right in. What a great choice! This place offers an executive lunch for $11,500 COP (about $4 with current exchange) which included the soup of the day, main dish (meat, pork, chicken, fish, etc.) and drink (lemonade, panela, lulo, etc.) The main dish came with rice, avocado, salad and arepa. It was more than filling and absolutely delicious. Comfort food at its best! This is not a fancy restaurant, but a clean, fast, savory typical home meal "fonda". Every time I go to Medellin, a meal here is on top of my list. You can't get more local than this!
