Blue Goose Cantina - McKinney

We arrived early on Veteran's Day evening in McKinney, and my wife inquired about any specials for veterans. The hostess seemed unsure and advised us to ask our waiter. At that point, we should have left. When we were seated in a corner booth, we noticed that the entire bench around it was covered in what appeared to be shredded salad and salsa. My wife went to inform the hostess, who merely handed her a paper towel. I then requested a different table and was directed to another booth, which also had food-stained benches. This time, a host was embarrassed enough to clean them when I pointed it out. When I asked our waitress if they offered a veterans discount, she responded with a firm "no," as if I were being rude for even asking. My intention wasn't just about the discount; I usually donate any discount I receive back into the tip. While the food was decent, I’ve had a better experience at Taco Bell for a lot less money. Given that places like On The Border, Uncle Julio's, and El Fenix were expressing gratitude for veterans today, I think I’ll choose to dine at those restaurants in the future.

My daughter and I dined here, and unfortunately, our service was lacking. Our server didn't take notes on our order, which he definitely should have, as it led to some mistakes. He also wasn't very friendly and seemed more focused on other tasks than on assisting us. The food was enjoyable, but we really hoped for a better experience with our server.

The food and service were very good. I wish Mexican restaurants would serve authentic red enchilada sauce instead of just chili con carne or cheese sauce—I’d love to see more variety! My taco was tasty, while the flauta was just okay.

Kaitlyn is amazing! The bar staff is the best. 2 dollar margaritas and chips with salsa is great. The can keep up with a tough crowd and do great at keeping the smiles on everyone's faces! Absolutely will be coming back!

The food met my expectations. Although we had to wait for the chips initially, the service after that was well-paced. I really enjoyed my big bob, though I would recommend frying it a bit longer for a crispier texture. They were accommodating regarding my request to skip the pico and lettuce. The portion sizes were generous. Overall, it was a lovely dinner!
