Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is a true hidden gem. It has the charm of a 1950s diner, embodying everything you see. It's the best around! The staff is fantastic, but there's one standout person who has truly captured our hearts: Candy. She's lively and full of personality—definitely someone you either love or dislike. In our case, we absolutely adore her!
We decided to check out this restaurant after reading the great reviews, but we left feeling disappointed. A good breakfast spot usually has great coffee, but unfortunately, their coffee was watery and lacking in flavor. The food itself was bland; the pancakes were so dry that we needed a spoon to eat them, and they fell apart with just a gentle touch—some pieces were even doughy. The Swiss omelet didn't contain any Swiss cheese; instead, it had a different cheese that harmed the overall dish. None of the restrooms had changing tables, making it unfriendly for families with babies. We also felt cramped in the tight seating arrangement. The biscuits were decent, and the overall cost and service were okay, which is why we gave it 2 stars. We tried it once, but we won’t be returning.
I was visiting the area and had many dining options, but this café was a true gem! I enjoyed breakfast on Christmas morning, and my table was brimming with delicious fluffy blueberry pancakes, a hearty meat lover's omelette, crispy hash browns, and grilled sourdough that was absolutely delightful. To top it all off, I indulged in a beautiful slice of pecan pie!
Bill Smith's Cafe is a staple in McKinney, Texas. It's the perfect example of a classic greasy spoon diner, featuring a short-order cook with prison tattoos working behind the grill (at least during my visit). The food was tasty, though! I ordered a cheeseburger, which was cooked perfectly, and the buns were placed on the grill alongside the meat, making them warm, toasty, and nicely greasy. The fries were decent, but they didn't quite measure up to those at Scotty P's. If you're in the mood for traditional diner fare, you can't go wrong with this place.
This is a unique and cool place to get your breakfast. Think Route 66 or something out of Cars. The review is a 4.0 and not 5 because (1) The steak for the steak and eggs is AWFUL. They don't even try, so you should not either and (2) they are not picky about who they hire as waitstaff. Sometimes (2) is a colloquial plus. Just as often its not. So: no steak, bring cash, good luck with your server.
