Corkscrew Pointe - McHenry

Exceptional food and service! The owner definitely has a stash of secret sauces and spices that enhance the dishes. Additionally, during our visit last Sunday in June, we humorously noted that Corkscrew Point might have reached our phones, as if a siren were calling out the name Michael!

I was thrilled to see Grinders open again! The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Both the Italian beef and the Cubano were delicious. However, there are no draft beer options available, except for Miller Lite; although there are plenty of craft beer bottles to choose from. I really wish they had servers, as John is currently managing everything himself, including setting up tables. The outdoor area is beautiful with lovely river views and new tables, but you have to go inside to get drinks and food. They've also opted to use the side entrance instead of the corner door. The corner door is labeled "please use other door," even though it's unlocked, and the regular customers still tend to use it.

I hadn't visited this restaurant in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised by the changes. The riverside room is new and features a fantastic picture window. There are also two pinball machines, a classic bowling game, and a new shuffleboard game, all of which made for a really fun experience. They did a wonderful job renovating the space, adding a beautiful set of stairs and a good-sized deck.
