We found this small restaurant by accident. Our hotel had directed us to a very expensive seafood restaurant which wasn't really what we wanted. We craved fresh local seafood in a local restaurant right away from the tourist trail. The smell of sardines sizzling...over a fire outside the entrance of Milho Rei was the perfect hint that this was the restaurant for us. The service was great (though there were not many other customers on a Monday night) and the food was absolutely delicious. We shared plates of grilled sardines, squid and cuttlefish as well as delicious cod and sword fish. The range of home made deserts were equally delicious! The bill was surprisingly cheap we received excellent value for money! Don't hesitate to go there even if you are staying in central Porto. It's a perfect restaurant after a stroll along the sea front!
