Staying at the Best Western Holiday Lodge, we came here for dinner. It says American-Irish fare. We were lucky it wasn 't too busy, though the waitresses and bartender were very busy. Service was quick enough, food selections were ok and prices were ok. Ordered a turkey sandwich on a pretzel bun with fries (it said no where on the menu that the fries were seasoned and I 'm allergic to pepper so that was a failure for me) and fish and chips....we were warned by the waitress that these came with jalapeno tartar sauce...I said we can 't have anything spicy (health reasons) and she brought us a plain tartar sauce, BUT the coleslaw that came with the meal was super hot and spicy....which again, it did not say on the menu and the waitress (new) did not know. We don 't blame her, but my partner was in gastronomical distress for hours after one bite. All in all it was fine, just a little more disclosure on the menu would have been appreciated. Who expects Irish food to be jalapeno-laced?
We showed up for dinner tonight. The server was nice and our appetizer arrived. While our food was cooked, the manager came out and told us that there were some electrical problems in the kitchen, they must close, but our food was done. He and his staff treated the dilemma with precision and honesty. They gave us 20% off and we took our food back to our hotel. The salmon with the passion fruit glazing was for dying. All right! Good place, good atmosphere, honest workers, good food, definitely recommend.
I felt bad because there was only one server, a bartender and a chef. But we still enjoyed our meal. The baked potato soup is great, favorite lemonade, stopper salad, and they have a lot of special drinks to choose from.
Huge portions! We shared a steak salad and it was enough big enough to fill us.
