Bidrage med feedbackThe place looks dingy and dirty, but its really not. The staff is super friendly and the food is really good. I wish they would add sushi to their menu, but overall I love ordering food from them. She food is also quite cheap with a lot of choice.
We have been protecting China Wok for years, so obviously we like it, or we wouldn't come back. In an area that has no ton of restaurant options, this place is pretty good. Having grown up in the Chicago suburbs for ten years and living in the Orlando area, I often had better Chinese. But for southern Illinois, China Wok, it is as good as it is for taking Chinese food. I like bovine broccoli and chicken mushrooms, both with roasted rice. The woman likes sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken and we both like the crabs rangoons. The egg rolls are also okay, but I prefer spring rolls.
Quality of food at this restaurant has gone down drastically over the years. When I moved here 8 years ago this was the best Chinese food in town. Over the past couple years it seems like it's slowly gotten less and less quality and flavor. Fried chicken dishes taste like oil and the sauce doesn't help to mask that. Wontons in the wonton soup are overcooked and have no taste, barely any meat in them anymore. Disappointed this used to be such a great restaurant.
WTF. I only came here because of the other reviews, but this food was horrible. Shrimp fried rice was yellow rice with onions and shrimp.Thats it. Carb Rangoon was the texture of runny snot. I'm from Chicago so maybe they just have lower standards for Chinese food in Marion. I've had the real thing and the American version Chinese food and this place failed by both standards.
I've been enjoying Wok at China since it first opened—probably back in 2002 or 2003. It has consistently been my favorite place for Chinese takeout. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, surpassing anything else in the Marion/Carbondale area. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. Plus, the family that runs the restaurant are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet.
