O Pai Dos Frangos - Marinha Grande

We didn't get yet the food but we are already thrilled after the starter. I'm sure the food will be awesome as well.

We stopped in at O Pai dos Frangos while exploring the area. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio for beers, coffee and sandwiches (tosta mistas). While we didn't take in the larger items on the menu, we really enjoyed what we did have and the service was great. You have a wonderful view of the water from the restuarant and can watch the surfers as you eat. Large rock formations jut out of the ground around the shorline making for a stunning landscape.

A cosy little place sitting beween the dunes and the very beach, still quiet and family friendly. A very quiet patio for the after beach beer. As a restaurant, great food. Welcoming staff in fact it 's family run.. Make sure you book a table in advance and try to get one next to the window to watch stunning sunsets. Alternatively, you can also order a frango (chicken) to take away for a delicious meal at a really affordable price. The Pai Dos Frangos is one of these little things we look forward to every summer.

This is an excellent find. The little wooden cabin on the beach barely looks fit to serve first class meals, but that's exactly what you find within. The varied menu offers typical Portuguese fare at very reasonable prices. The house wine is competitively priced and excellent quality. On a quiet Tuesday, the restaurant was full for lunch, so worth making a booking if you're travelling from any distance to eat there.

After reading the only other review of this restaurant, I gave it a try only to be very dissapointed with the service and the price of my dinner. It is right on the beach near the lighthouse of Sao Pedro de Moel. The service was glacial, almost unfriendly and I had to pay 40€ for a very average meal . This restaurant doesn't go into my diary for my next visit to Sao Pedro de Moel.
