Bidrage med feedbackThe Ambrette is truly a special treat. The food is exquisite; a heady cocktail of flavours that complement and excite the palate, the staff friendly and well-trained... There is not much to criticise, but if pressed I would only suggest making it more obvious the restaurant car park is for patrons. I had to go into the restaurant to check before parking, as the notice said permit holders only which was confusing. Overall I would highly recommend visiting this delight, and even as a vegetarian, I was spoilt for choice.
Very nice meal in Margate: really enjoyed the cooking, especially the fresh fish dishes. Pork belly was great (if enormous) and the chicken starter also a success. The only downside was that we didn't have room for desserts. Two very minor things: don't put the real ale in a cold fridge; and maybe a decor update would help the restaurant match the quality of the food. But overall a hearty recommendation for anyone going to Margate for a great evening meal. Good value too.
My partner and I visited the Ambrette for lunch on a Saturday day trip to Margate. Both of us (he is vegetarian) were thrilled by the imaginative Indian-fusion dishes on offer. The spicing was subtle and the combinations of ingredients unusual and delicious. The very reasonably priced set lunch menu was supplemented by a pre-starter and an espresso cup of soup between starter and main course. We enjoyed a bottle of delicious Soave with our meal and the serving staff were attentive without being overbearing.
It's GREAT. a real find at the back end of the Old Town Arts quarter in Margate. Exceptionally fine food in a welcoming atmosphere. Great for foodies as well as families having a birthday party or a couple having a romantic evening. Not far from the Margate Theatre Royal.
Our meal at the Ambrette was wonderful. The food is a modern British take on Indian food and everything we tried was excellent. The restaurant effortlessly managed to accommodate my teenage son's special diet (gluten and dairy free) and he was still left with delicious things to eat and several choices. The staff were very helpful in advising about different tastes and flavours which were knockout and such a variety of homemade chutneys and sauces. It was an added bonus that little dishes turned up unexpectedly between courses a soup and the lightest vegetable dumpling all mouth watering. Well chosen wines to compliment the food and excellent value for money.
