Bidrage med feedbackSince 2005 we have been visiting this beach bar which another Trip Advisor contributor in 2014 correctly rated as a 'Perfect Spot '. As he said at that time, 'a bar to keep coming back to '! Unfortunately, it appears that the bar has become a casualty of the fall out from the effects of COVID 19, which, combined with a decision by the Government of the Ballearics to ban smoking at all bars, restaurants and similar establishments on the islands has enabled the local fly population to take over! Firstly, this is a very simply operating business enterprise that provides drinks and basic food in the form of sandwiches, salads and pizzas for the people who visit this safe and beautiful beach in a stunning location. Secondly, prior to 2020, the bar remained open from about 9:30am to 10:00pm. This enabled the operators to attract customers throughout the day during the time that people stayed on the beach, but it also captured many people as they headed to the beach bar for refreshments before heading home or to wherever they were staying while on holiday. In addition, towards the end of the day our family were part of a fair number of people who visited the beach bar in the early evening from about 7:00pm to 'book ' our place and eat and drink simple honest fayre while watching the absolutely glorious sunsets see a selection of photographs that my family have taken over the years. This year (August/September 2022), we had the very disappointing experience of turning up at the beach bar at about 6:30pm and finding it closed! On enquiry, we established that post COVID 19 the new owners had decided to close for one day a week not a problem in itself as many hard working hospitality and catering staff now get a chance to have a well earned rest during the very busy week on week holiday season. However, we also established that the hours being operated by the new owners were from about 10:00am to 8:00pm on those days that they are open. In the height of summer July early September the glorious sunsets very often run a good way past 8:00pm so the opportunity to sit and savour a Pomada, Sangria, or Whisky etc while enjoying one of great experiences of mother nature has been been defintely spoiled! The effect of banning smoking in open places such as this bar means that there are far too many flies appearing around the tables when you are trying to eat food served by the bar. My wife and I do not smoke but in an open setting, the smokke does not bother us, but it does keep most of the flies away, and it is was generally tolerable twhen we ate food at the bar, but not now! If the ban on smoking in open spaces such as beach bars is to continue, then the oweners need to invest in a number of strategically placed Electric Fly Killing Machines they are readily available on Amazon for between GBP £30 £45 each and I am sure this would help. Just as important, the current owners need to re evaluate their business reasons for closing the bar so early. Surely, in the height of the summer holiday season, keeping open until say 9:30pm would enable enough customers to stay on after visiting the beach or arriving early evening, then ordering refreshments and drinks to watch the amazing sunsets. When we did visit the bar about 3 times during our two weeks holiday, it appeared to us that the waiting staff all appeared to be approaching or at pensionable age. Assuming that it is a 'marginal ' business, run by very few individuals, is there not a case to employ one or two young students during the summer months to allow the opening hours to be extended so that once again, Es Grau Beach Bar can claim to be the "Perfect Spot '?
The waitress obviously mistook us for the people that killed her dog. Terrible, terrible service. Not only that but, the coffee used to be very good here. Not anymore. Avoid.
The only good thing about this place is the views. The staff are rude, they don't seem to care about the customers at all.
Under the trees, a view out over the bay, a cold drink, what’s not to like? A bar I will keep coming back to
Nice little haven from the sun on a hot day. The bar has a shady seating area under some trees right on the beach with a lovely view but me and my partner got a pretty cold reception there from the waiter and bar staff. Worth a visit on a hot day though!
