Woodstock Tavern - Manchester

This restaurant is always a fantastic choice. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is lively and enjoyable, but it's the exceptional service that really sets this place apart. The staff is incredible, with Sam in particular standing out during our visit. I would return here just to be served by her again. It's the people that truly make places like this shine, and Sam exemplifies what excellent service should be. Thank you, Sam!

We made a party reservation three days in advance and, like anyone looking forward to a meal out, we hardly ate all day in anticipation of our Sunday dinner. It turned out to be a huge disappointment and a series of mishaps. When we arrived, we were informed that they only had chicken left and no more beef, belly pork, or macaroni cheese – all of which were listed on the menu. After waiting forty minutes to place our order, it took nearly another thirty minutes for the last person in our group to be served, receiving overcooked, crunchy chicken. The steak and ale pie received positive feedback for being filling, but was difficult to eat due to the tough pastry and rationed gravy. Our table was by a large window and it was so cold that we put our coats back on. The waitress, who was flustered but accommodating, brought a heater from downstairs to place under the table and apologized for the broken radiators. Hoping dessert would salvage the evening, we were disappointed to learn they had run out of desserts as well, though they did have some ice cream. At that point, we were just ready to go home, feeling cold and let down.

Warm atmosphere, great for a drink after work with friends. Barman very knowledgeable about wide selection of craft IPA. Will be back.

Me and my wife was gifted a voucher for Christmas and decided to have an evening meal here. The menu looked great! Steak and ale pie with buttery mash and red wine jus, sirloin steak with triple cooked chips. The red wine jus was a...poor watery gravy, pastry on the pie was so hard and I’d be surprised if the mash had ever seen any butter. The steak was so poor and for the you’d be better going elsewhere. Asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it was more cremated. The chips was meant to be triple cooked and they were far from it, can tell they are a poor quality frozen chip. The lady who served us was fantastic and a credit to this place. All in all we definitely won’t be back due to how poor the food was
