My first visit to the Lister Arms was back in the 1970s. It was Rustic and cosy back then. Over the years I have returned many times... Sometimes delivering produce bakery items from Cromptons Bakery.. the best bakery in Skipton back then.. and fresh vegetables, frozen foods from Dalefresh also a Skipton based business, both long gone now. So I feel as though I have played a small part in the Listers continuance as a rural hostelry. I have also paid many a visit over many years, as a patron. I have spent some time with family, friends, partners. I don 't think I 've ever been disappointed with the food or drink in Fifty years! The atmosphere is just as relaxing and warm as it always was.The setting is so beautiful and the interior is very much the same as it has always been. In these strange and anxious times, it is reassuring to know that although the World has changed so much over the last half century, places like the Lister Arms remain. I am not a fan of Thwaites in general, but all credit to the Lancashire based brewery for keeping the place as it should remain, hopefully for many years to come. I drank a pint or two when I was 18, 21 and many more as I have grown older... My latest meal, a delicious Sunday Roast, was accompanied by an Elderberry tonic! My sister paid for this treat... Living on a small pension is no holiday... The team who run the Listers should be proud of what they do. We can 't afford to go out very much anymore.. This recent visit was one of the best and was worth every penny.
