Bidrage med feedbackWhile waiting for a morning appointment in Makati CBD, hubby and I chanced upon Wagner German Bakery along Valero Street. We hadn't had breakfast yet so we decided to go there for some food and coffee. It's a quaint little place with wooden tables and chairs. I ordered Melange (P150), a mocha with warm milk foam. I was told it was one of the bestselling coffees. It's really good, albeit expensive. P150 gives you a tiny cup that is gone too soon. I think I breathed it all in. I ordered their Shalom Tel Aviv (P280) because from the menu photos it looked like one of the more filling breakfast items. It's Shakshuka consisting of 2 poached eggs on top of really chunky flavorful sauce made from tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, and cumin. It was served with 2 slices of German bread. It was surprisingly delicious. I actually finished the entire order. Hubby had the Strammer Max (P390) which is meatloaf with egg on toast. It's served with pickles and fries. It's super expensive at almost P400 considering it's just one piece of bread, an egg, and a thin slice of meatloaf. Not really worth it. It was a nice leisurely breakfast. Most of their menu items are very expensive though.

German bakery and beerhaus on valero st. We had a couple of coffees - Grober Schwarzer (black mocha) and Kaffee Verkehrt (mocha with a lot of milk). The latter was pretty good. Tried their Currywurst- sausage with pommes in a curry sauce. Dish was ok, but the curry ended up become satiating - couldn't bring ourselves to finish the dish. Ended with a cream cake - which tasted ok after it defrosted at our table! And a glass of Paulaner.
Had lunch earlier today at Wagner German Bakery with friends. We ordered the Currywurst, the Chicken Schnitzel and a Pretzel for me. Must say, these dishes are really, really hearty - they are indeed very satisfying! I had the Pretzel as appetizer, and it didn't disappoint! Mine was a bit tougher than usual today, but I'll let it pass - I just like it so much! I especially liked the potato salad alongside the schnitzel - tangy and with a little spicy kick. Just wish the chicken was cooked a little less done, though - mine was a bit overcooked, so while it was crispy, it was a bit tough, and was a bit difficult to slice. The Currywurst was excellent, and I was very happy with it - and so too were my friends! Overall, apart from the little niggles, the experience was extremely satisfying! Would definitely come back here! P.S. I sure hope to meet Herr Angelo Wagner some day soon. I really would like to know more about his restaurant.
Really love this place. I came here already many times ti spend time with the staff who are super friendly. The bread is very authentic and the pretzels are extremely good. I already took a lot of friends with me here who all enjoyed their time. The platter with the cold cuts is the perfect base for the german beer.
