Sofra 2 im Malakoff-Center - Mainz

We'd just walked 12 km along the Rhine and were looking for somewhere to eat when we came across this restaurant. The waiter was attentative, they didn't mind the dog (we ate outside) and we were served pretty quickly. We had a Falafel sandwich and the mixed grill plus 2 drinks, drinks were quick and the food didn't take too long after to be served. You can actually see into the food prep area which I like and everything looked clean. The size of the portions was ample, I gave my wife some of the meat from the mixed grill and even then I struggled a bit to finish off the meal. It was all tasty and nicely laid out but the best thing is that with drinks and a tip it came to 30 Euros. I mean, how much is a Dominoes Pizza now? A standard Pfalzich meal of Bratwirst and Sauerkraut with a slice of brown bread is about that price and this was far superior. You have to remember though that this is a genuine Turkish restaurant, there is no alchohol on the menu.

NOT recommended at all. I asked for water and they said they had both bottled and tap water. I said I would go for tap water which would be free as in every other place I go to. Well they ended up charging me 2 euros for a GLASS of water. So I asked what was the difference and they said there is no difference in price between bottled and tap and neither with any other drink. Anyway, feel robbed, 2 euros for a glass of water where a Durum is already 4 is crazy. Also, the food was okay, but nothing special. First and last time I go there

We enjoyed our lunch in this restaurant very much. Service was fast, waiters friendly and food excellent. I can truly recommend.

Delicious. Clean. Good. Very child-friendly. Great location. The best door in Mainz tonight is back.
