This place is located righ in front of the Mafra Convent, a known tourist site. Went there to eat Francesinha, a typical northern dish, with a group of 10. The food was not brilliant, the waiting time was fairly high and we ended up paying almost 20Eur per person (too high a price for the quality offered). The staff wasn't friendy either. I'd not return for sure.

We visited Mafra to take a tour around the Palace and Convent and, arriving late morning, decided to take a light lunch first. A Tripadvisor search led us to this restaurant hidden away down a narrow street opposite the Palace and we were surprised that the modest entrance opened up into a very well appointed restaurant. We were welcomed by a very pleasant young lady dressed in uniform as were all the staff as we found out. Led to a table for the two of us in a room adjoning the reception area the quality of finishings and table layout confirmed our view that no expense had been spared in converting this old building into a fine eatery. Menus are shiwn on a digital tablet not my favourite idea but.. and an array of interesting dishes displayed. We both went for a ramekin dish of bacalhau following a simple cheese starter and were not disappointed. Accompanied by a delicious side salad, a bottle of still water and a glass of house white wine, this made a perfect light lunch. Thoroughly recommended. 30€ for the two of us.

Really nice relaxing lunch tucked in an alley directly across from the palace. Lots of locals, chef comes to check and make sure you liked your meal, beautiful decor. Nice selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian options.

Great food (tasty chicken kebab), good service and ambience. Very good price/quality. Second time here and we’ll come back whenever around here.

We ended up here after visiting the palacio. It's round a corner, but has a sign from the main road. Not a big place but plenty of choice on the menu for everyone. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options too. Friendly waitress, who barely spoke English however.
