Mill Valley Bbq - Madison

For good homemade carryout in Madison this is hard to beat.

Of all the spots to grab a bite in Madison, there's no comparison when it comes to BBQ. We went for lunch and tried the special of the day (pork tenderloin sandwich), a pulled pork sandwich, a hot dog, and several sides. Several of the items on the menu are locally sourced from the county, like their burger, though we didn't get a chance to try it. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked and juicy- we were given two huge pieces for the sandwich, which also came with a side. I got two, because why not? and was pleased with the green beans, cooked down with meat and some sugar, and the mac n cheese, which was gooey and delicious with a nice layer of thick toasted cheese on top. The pulled pork sandwich was solid and the side of baked beans did not disappoint- they were obviously soaked and cooked on site- not canned- and had great flavor and texture. The hot dog was grilled well and had a great snap to the outside. A final note on sauces: you take your pick and they let you load up the sandwich with it yourself, which I always appreciate. The traditional sauce is tasty and satisfies as a good basic BBQ sauce. I also tried the hickory which had a good smoke profile, and the apple BBQ sauce which had a great tangy sweetness and was spiced differently- I tasted some clove or cinnamon. The prices were right, the food was delicious, and we feel great about supporting a local business serving local food!

We had food from Mill Valley at our wedding last night- it was so good that people took food home with them! I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for some good bbq! The Mac and cheese was DELICIOUS!

I like the veggie burger, although I'm pretty sure it's cooked on the same grill with the burgers, which I don't mind, but others might. The mac cheese and cheesy potatoes are tasty. Good side salad. Not open often. No fountain drinks. We go occasionally because we live in Madison, fairly close to town, and it's convenient.

Stopped in on a drive through the area. I had the beef ribs and my husband chose the grilled chicken. Our food and the service excellent. Highly recommend, we'll be back often!
