Bidrage med feedbackI've eaten at the Gonzales Mr. Taco several times so I've always avoided this one until yesterday. It was actually pretty good! Service was great, and the enchilada plate was great! I'll have to try something else next time.
We stopped here on the way back to Houston from the river we all left FULL! The Lord Tacos is HUGE!!! I just let the Carne guisada Tacos with rice cheese say it was worth the price. Huge Taco will have you full for the rest of the day. Oil My friends enjoyed the food service. we will highly recommend this place when our friends family come to the river!

This taco was impressive, delicate, and packed with fantastic flavor. **Carne Guisada - 10/10** I had the Carne Guisada on a flour tortilla without any extras. This place serves a guisada as good as my own; it's honestly the best I've ever had at a restaurant. **Entrées:** **Carne Guisada Plate - 7/10** This dish came with rice, roasted beans, and two flour tortillas. Once again, the guisada was phenomenal, and the fried beans were quite tasty. The rice had a perfect texture but lacked strong flavor, so some queso would be a nice addition. **Homemade Mole Enchiladas - 7/10** The enchiladas were covered in their homemade mole sauce with queso fresco and sour cream. They were served with rice, fried beans, and two flour tortillas. Overall, the mole on the enchiladas was decent, with a subtle sweetness and a hint of cinnamon. **Enchilada Plate - 4/10** This consisted of two cheese enchiladas served with guacamole salad, rice, fried beans, and two flour tortillas. Sadly, this dish fell flat; the enchilada sauce and cheese were quite disappointing, and the flavorless rice left much to be desired. The only saving grace was the beans, because the guacamole was a complete failure. I don't know what they did, but it tasted nothing like guacamole. **The Big Burrito - 8/10** This massive flour tortilla was filled with carne guisada, rice, and beans, then topped with red sauce and cheese. As the name suggests, it was hefty—over 2 pounds! The carne guisada shone in this burrito, and combined with the red sauce and cheese, it was a dish worth celebrating. If you love burritos, this is one you don't want to miss. Overall, if you’re in the area and craving Mexican food, stop by Mr. Taco. The restaurant is clean, and the customer service is great. While some dishes are hit or miss, my overall experience was a positive one.
We camp at the nearby Palmetto State Park, but decided to put the camping gear aside and drive into the city for dinner. Mr. Taco was a delightful choice: it had a warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. We ordered three dishes: I chose the tortilla soup, which featured super fresh ingredients and a rich, flavorful broth. My husband had the mole enchiladas, which had a fantastic sauce, and the chicken in the handmade tortillas was cooked to perfection. My son ordered the al pastor street tacos, which came as five small tacos on corn tortillas filled with meat, cilantro, and onion. The best word to describe this place is "authentic," as the dishes tasted like they were made from secret family recipes passed down from ancient Mexico—a refreshing change from heavy Tex-Mex food. The prices were also very reasonable! If it rains in the morning, we might just return for breakfast!

Everything on the plate was enjoyable, but I particularly loved the beef enchilada thanks to its extra flavor. The taco had a perfect crunch with well-seasoned meat, and the bean chalupa was delicious, thanks to perfectly seasoned beans. If you're in the area and craving Mexican food, you should definitely check this place out. The restaurant is clean, and the service is excellent. While some dishes hit the mark and others miss the bus, the overall experience was quite good. **Update:** After trying the enchilada sauce several times, I’ve started to appreciate it more. It’s much milder in flavor compared to most restaurants, but it complements dishes with stronger tastes. It might not stand out on a basic cheese enchilada plate, but it feels unique and light—definitely worth trying!
