The owner is Miss Barzu is a arrogant lady,no customer care.we just order a local french food, she took a long time to serve us after serving all the french people who came after us ,we simply asked why she replied with arrongant manier...
I was walking back from visiting the Grotto and I was very hungry, but as always, wary of restaurants so close to the very touristy areas. But, I decided to grab a table on the patio of Aux Armes de Belgique and take my chances. I ordered a coffee and a pizza, again fearing, as I have had happen in other touristy areas that the pizza might be a frozen one from a box. I could not have been more wrong. The pizza was homemade and delicious. As soon as it arrived the waiter (possibly owner) came and cut it at the side of the table. He then offered me a glass of white wine, his 'family wine' he called it. It too, was lovely. And the price was excellent. A glass of wine, coffee, good-sized pizza and an espresso all for 15 euros.
We stayed in Lourdes while we were passing through and we were not interested in sanctuaries or religion. The town was quite dead at night and few places seemed to be open as most people went to the Grotto. The owner was fairly friendly and as we spoke French with English accents, he asked us if we required the "English menu" - we said that a French one was fine. English versions sometimes seem to omit some of the dishes. He explained the Menu du Jour and then asked if we were interested in local Pyrenean speciality food - we said that we were so he showed us an alternative menu on a small chalk board. We chose food from that, sourced by local suppliers. The food was tasty and the agreeable wine was available by the glass.
Four of us arrived for a full lunch and the lady ignored us to start with. We asked for the menu which eventually arrived. We asked if an elderly nun who was with us and had stomach problems could have some dry toast only whilst the rest of us had a full meal each. She refused to serve the toast and said they did not do it. She would have to order a full meal. She decided to have nothing and waited for us whilst we ate.Just as we were leaving a french couple came in and sat next to us and ordered their meal and the lady had cheese on toast with something else. !!The food was OK but the experience put me off for good. We only stayed as we were hungry and our nun wanted to rest her legsI would suggest avoiding the wrath of this woman if you want to enoy a meal.
