Osaka Japanese - Louisville

The gentleman at the counter was kind enough to inform us when we walked in that they only had one chef so it might be a bit of a wait for dinner. We decided to stay. We had our food (eight rolls) within 10-12 minutes. Great service and food!

We were in search of an early dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant that seemed to be open from lunch until late at night, unlike most others in downtown Louisville that closed around 3pm and reopened at 5. When we arrived, the restaurant already had a few tables of guests. There was only one server who was helpful, but he seemed overwhelmed with managing a constant flow of food deliveries and takeout orders. We started with Fried Oysters as appetizers and had Tempura Shrimp and Teriyaki Beef as our main dishes. The oysters were delicious, the Tempura Shrimp came with plenty of vegetables and was satisfying. The Teriyaki Beef dish was flavorful, but the pieces of beef were deep fried, which was unusual and some were hard and crunchy. Overall, the meal was decent.

It’s not bad. Buy one roll get one for $2. Friendly. Some of the rolls are good, but not the best quality. My 911 roll was really soggy.

We were in Louisville for a few days and wanted Japanese. Googled restaurants near me and this place came up. It was in walking distance of our hotel so decided to check it out. Upon walking in I wasn’t too sure… so glad we gave them a shot! Super friendly and even made things for us that weren’t on the menu. Everything we had was delicious. This would def be a favorite spot if we lived there.

The sushi is great. And I did enjoy the house ginger salad. The employees were kind, and the environment was traditional. However, everything else was subpar. The shrimp teriyaki was overcooked, and the veggies were frozen and cooked, taking away flavor opportunities. The veggie tempura was also bland. There was no seasoning in the batter or veggies. The restaurant has a lot of potential. However, the quality of the food is lacking. For the price, I was disappointed.
