Elysee Cafe Bakery - Los Angeles

This is a real bakery and coffee shop. Independently owned and managed by humans, not policy rule books. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. If you are in the area, please avoid the corporate chains and visit Elysee.

A charming (and surprisingly large) family-owned cafe with great prices and drink/bakery options, located next to UCLA. Popular with the locals, especially students. Metered parking can be a bit annoying to find and the cafe fills up throughout the day. Good WiFi, some tables with outlets. Kind staff members and friendly service. Pretty safe area, just remember not to leave your stuff lying around unattended.

I highly recommend visiting this place, as it is truly remarkable.

We had a sandwich with grilled veggies—cold sandwich, good quality bread, cheese but the grilled eggplant was undercooked, flavorless, rubbery and they had raw mushrooms in there as well. Rest of the veggies were fine, the recipe just needs a little tweaking. Latte tasted burnt, couldn’t finish. I think if you go to this place just for the desserts, you’ll probably be fine tho, we didn’t try them but they looked amazing.
