May's Thai Kitchen - Long Beach

Nothing comes to the table without proprietor, chef, and teacher; May, ensuring its perfect. Never fails to thrill my palette and romance my appetite. Best Thai food in LB! Hands down. Update (1/11/17): May's has new owners who also bought her recipes, thank goodness. Alas, it's not the same vibe and the love is mostly gone from the food and service. Mink Quan takes back first favorite Thai food joint.

May 's is the quintessential neighborhood family-owned restaurant . One of those little gems where the locals know that the food is always good, the service is excellent, and you can simply relax and enjoy a good meal with friends or that special someone. Hard to go wrong here. A note on my scores: I only give a 3 for the most-exceptional examples I find in each category. A 2 , as I 've given here, means exactly what Google intended: Very Good.

Went there on a Saturday evening, place was a little busy, but owner/mgr should anticipate that. Service was very poor, waiter forgot our order and we sat almost half an hr before they came back and asked us again what we ordered??!! Like they forgot to tell the cook, but within few minutes after that the meal was served fresh hot. Tried the pad thai, tasted great, but again every time we needed service the waiter would forget and we had to wait and wait and wait. Not good, I doubt I'll go back.

This place was awful. The lady who took my order looked irritated with me when I was asking her opinion on what to order. They took forever to bring out our food. She didn't give us utensils or napkins, my son had to steal some from the table next to us. The food was ok, but since the service was so bad, we won't be going back there.

Delicious Affordable Thai. There are many options for Thai in Long Beach, but May's Thai is in the Top 3 category. It has established itself, has an affordable selection, and variety in court options. The yellow curry is incredibly tasteful, roasted rice is on-point, and the Thai Iced Tea meets the sweet desire. Try it at least once if you don't already have it.
