Bidrage med feedbackWe had a wonderful dining experience with our family at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we had a great time. The only issue was that some people ordered crab legs, but they were soft and difficult to crack. Other than that, everything was fantastic.
The food was constantly chilled by the cold air blowing on it, which made it difficult to keep it warm for long. Despite the mild weather outside, the air conditioning was running unnecessarily, making us feel frozen most of the time. However, our server was fantastic - very courteous and helpful. The dishes were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. As a bonus, we received a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration, which was a nice touch.
My wife and I enjoyed the keg restaurants in St.Catharines and Peterborough. Both companies are excellent with decor, service and food. This is not the case with the Keg – Masonville. The decor was nothing special, the service was ho-hum, and the food... nowhere near the other two above mentioned. Maybe we visited a bad night. Given our experience with the other two kegs, we will probably try again.
Once seated, we were asked if we wanted wine, which we declined. The wine glasses were promptly removed from the table. Our server was friendly and quickly suggested some signature dishes. I ordered the scallops and my friend ordered what appeared to be mushrooms with cheese. Both dishes were excellent, and our server checked on us frequently to ensure we were enjoying our meal. For the main course, I ordered the Teriyaki Sirloin with a side of mushrooms, while my friend opted for a regular Sirloin. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. Our server then offered us the dessert and coffee menu, to which I couldn't resist ordering both. I was impressed by the food, attention to detail, and the servers' crisp uniforms. The only slight issue I noticed was with the knife service - the knife bowl was placed behind my friend's head near the partition, and the washroom, while clean, had some paper cloth and toilet paper on the floor. This may have been due to COVID precautions. Despite these minor points, I will definitely be returning to The Keg in the future.
First time writing a negative review. We had a reservation for our dinner last night at 545pm. When we showed up at our reservation time the three young ladies working the front door were whispering behind a menu on where to put our party...of 4. This 'whispering ' went on for about 2 minutes. When they finally stopped talking amongst each other, one of them took us to a table next to the bar. This was very unexpected as we made a specific reservation for the dining room to celebrate a birthday (and the dining room was empty)! We asked to be seated in the dining room and were eventually accommodated, but not without the hostess appearing discouraged. I asked her why we weren 't seated in the dining room in the first place (as a courtesy to understand if there was a staff shortage or something) and she had no reply. We were all very discouraged with the lack of professional and transparent feedback of the hostesses when we arrived. We almost walked out, but carried on with dinner hoping for a better experience from our waitress. Our waitress was wonderful (Lee) and the food was great. Hoping the ladies up front get some coaching on the negative impact they had on this experience with valued customers. If you need to whisper and negotiate where to sit us, go to a different room. This looked unprofessional and we were made to feel like we were not welcomed or good enough to sit in the dining room. Not sure we will be back here.
