Union Street Cafe - London

For my birthday, my friends gifted me a voucher for a gin masterclass at a restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs. The staff, especially the bartender leading the masterclass, were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a fantastic time, bonding with the other guests in our group and enjoying the great atmosphere and food. It was definitely worth a visit and the best present ever!

We went to the restaurant for a pre-theatre supper on a quiet midweek evening. Despite there being few customers, there were plenty of staff and I could see three chefs in the partially open kitchen. However, we had a terrible experience with the maitre d', who seemed to have a grudge against us. The service was incredibly poor and we were treated rudely. Our food took forever to arrive, including a simple burrata dish that should have been quick to prepare. We had to repeatedly remind our waiter about our order. It made us wonder if this place is really a restaurant, or just pretending to be one. It felt like a pricey practical joke on unsuspecting customers.

I decided to try this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation, and I was not disappointed. It was an absolutely amazing experience. The food was delicious, with generous portions and a variety of options. Gordon Ramsay truly deserves his fame. The service was outstanding, exceeding my expectations with friendly, patient, and super professional staff. The atmosphere was perfect for a dinner with friends. I highly recommend this restaurant for a pleasant dining experience. I can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu this week!

Specifically booked this restaurant because the beef wellington was on the menu. When we arrived 6pm Sunday 17th December the waitress brought up cutlery for us to pass along ourselves. Then said there are a few dishes not available. About 7 dishes weren’t available including the beef wellington. No sushi, only one variety of steak. Restaurant was cold. When I asked why so many dishes weren’t available we were told “it’s Christmas and we haven’t had a delivery today”. Even asked for a particular wine from the menu and was told that one wasn’t available but could suggest another. Very very disappointed with service as no interaction and none smiled at all on our visit. This was supposed to be a special meal prior to my son and daughter in law (who are real passionate foodies) departing to the USA for Christmas. Very very expensive meal for an awful experience at this restaurant. Gordon you would have been spitting feathers if you experienced what we did at your restaurant.

Absolutely loved this place. We had fantastic service and fantastic food from start to finish. We had the beef Wellington experience at £95 each for 2 people. We received a cocktail upon arrival and then 3 wonderful courses, couldn't finish it all! Didn't feel rushed at all, but the people who state slow service are wrong they just give you time between courses to let it settle as a restaurant should. I'm sure after reading reviews if customers want faster service they could ask and would receive it.
