The River Cafe - London

I had a really nice lunch here. I was with a friend and we managed to get a nice table and had a pleasant conversation over a couple of excellent lattes. Our waitress was very friendly and calm I loved the service. Thanks.

I love having dinner at this restaurant in London. The food is excellent, the ambiance is truly elegant, and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Upon arriving and sitting down, we didn't leave until close to o'clock, allowing us to fully experience the joyful atmosphere of this restaurant. The open kitchen and long bar added to the frivolity of the visit. As we enjoyed our dessert, we observed the restaurant crew sitting down to their lunch, which consisted of dishes similar to what we had just eaten. They then moved to the bar to prepare for dinner, engaging in conversation and vegetable prep. It was a great sight to witness. The food was exceptional. As guests of a Richard Rogers employee, we had access to a shortened set menu that made the experience much more affordable. We started with a delicious mixed antipasti, followed by pasta dishes like plump ravioli with spinach and cheese, and risotto with cabbage, pancetta, and Fontina. The main courses, such as braised veal shin with chard, calves liver, and a wild mushroom and gooey cheese frittata, were all excellent. We ended the meal with cheese, vanilla ice cream, espresso, and lemon tart, paired with a Chianti from Sepulviana. The food was a great value considering the high prices of the a la carte options. Overall, the experience was fantastic and worth returning for. I highly recommend visiting the Richard Rogers building and making friends with someone there to access the set menu. It's definitely worth it.

I must admit that I was influenced by the hype and decided to try out the River Cafe. Unfortunately, like many things, the actual experience did not meet my expectations. The restaurant offers a decent selection of dishes and specials, but it is evident that the focus is on quality rather than quantity, to say the least. I also found the staff to be somewhat arrogant and snooty, perhaps due to the restaurant's reputation. It was a disappointing experience and the high prices ensure that I will not be returning.
