City Lounge - London

Our waitress, Paulina, was incredibly accommodating. She even spoke to the chef to arrange for us to have breakfast since we had just missed the serving time. The food was beautifully presented, and the service was exceptional.

We received free drinks, a Diet Coke and a tea, which was a nice gesture. However, our food order did not go smoothly. We had ordered a jerk chicken burger with gluten-free bread, but it was only when the food was nearly ready that they informed us they had no gluten-free bread available. Thankfully, our friend said he was okay with having it without the bun, and the food was served just two minutes later. If he had wanted to change his order, they would have had to start over. We also requested a glass of water, but it never arrived. When it was time to pay, the server mentioned that she had given us a small discount to make up for the missing bun. To be honest, if they hadn’t done that, we would likely have complained about the jerk chicken since it didn’t match our expectation; it was more like strips of chicken, akin to goujons, rather than a proper burger. When she brought the bill, she immediately brought the card machine and waited for payment before we had a chance to review the bill, which was quite frustrating. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

We visited Did Modern after the exhibition and wanted a relaxed dining option close to Blackfriars tube station. The atmosphere was cozy, and the waitstaff were polite. The tuna salad was excellent, while the burger was a bit dry, but overall, we had a great time.

The girl that served us was really nice that she could not do enough for us, thank you.
