Bidrage med feedbackSome delicious Filipino food yesterday in Kentish Town. I’ve been wanting to try here for ages and it didn’t disappoint! For starters I had the Spicy Carabao Fried Wings, the main was the highly reputed Crispy Wok Glazed Banana Lamb Ribs and I had dirty fried rice a roti on the side. Definitely be back to try some other dishes that looked equally delicious. Great service too.
Some of the best Filipino food I've had. We had starters of carabao wings and crispy fried tofu (both GF) and it was a great combo of sweet, spicy, crispy food. Along with the fresh guava pitcher it was delectable. Then we all got a mixture of the noodles, curry, grilled chicken and lamb rendang. Everything was fault less, the right level of spice to feel it but not ruin the flavor. It's all well thought about, home cooking elevated to a great level.
Rich vibrant flavours, varied textures, all served by friendly and attentive staff who are clearly proud of and excited about what they make. The sauce of the Oxtail Kare Kare was super rich and silky, I couldn 't get enough of it be sure to order some rice to mop it up with. Yes it has bits of bone etc in it if you prefer not to have to deal with that don 't order oxtail dishes . And the banana lamb ribs were something else cracklingly crunchy on the outside, mouthwateringly fatty and moist on inside. I don 't know enough about Filipino food to say how authentic it really is but it 's certainly delicious, and quite different to anything else I 've had. No alcohol sold here, but you can bring your own for a corkage charge (except on Mondays apparently when BYOB is corkage free). NB: cash only, or at least it was when I went (Jan '22)
Our first Filipino/Pan Asian cuisine while visiting Camden. Would highly recommend giving it a visit and trying out new flavours. For starters we had the Spicy Carabao Fried Wings and Pandesal Sliders. The Wings did have a kick to them so beware but they had there own unique flavour. Next time I would probably avoid the sliders as they tasted like any other smash pattie burger, however couldn't fault it. For mains we shared the Crispy Wok Glazed Banana Lamb Ribs with Garlic Fried Rice. This should come with a warning, make sure you use your hands and have plenty or napkins. If you are a shy eater, order something else. But it was worth it! Would also recommend Calamansi drink to cut through the sweetness of the ribs. Highly recommend going here for something different. Service was very friendly, great experience overall.
The food was alright but not authentic Filipino. A tad bit Westernised, which isn’t really a bad thing. But if you’re Filipino and expecting flavours from back home, you’ll be a bit disappointed. The ube ice cream and halo halo were both good though. Price-wise, I felt like they were a bit on the expensive side. Overall, a so-so dining experience.
