Bidrage med feedbackThis place is a little difficult to locate as there are many homely foods in Lonavala.<br/ <br/ Ambience- I’m a sucker for places which give you homely feels rather than the flashy places.<br/ This place is small, and has some trees and a swing at the entrace. I loved the background tbh because I love such places.<br/ <br/ Now coming to the food,<br/ Prawns Masala- Probably one of the most amazing things I’ve tasted in my entire life. This is a must try even for the ones who don’t enjoy sea food. Order some rice or chapati to go along with this and you’ll have the taste lingering in your mouth for days.<br/ <br/ Pomphret Fry- A good dish with fresh fish and plenty of masala.<br/ <br/ Service- Service is pretty quick as we went early it wasn’t crowded.<br/ <br/ Staff- Tbh, I found the staff rude because they have plenty of customers and care only for the people in big groups. Also, after our lunch when we stopped to sit on the swing for sometime we got pretty harsh looks from the people working there.
Very good food. On our two day getaway to Lonavala, Homely Food at Joshi Sanatorium was highly recommended to us. When we reached there, we were a bit taken aback by the very, very humble exterior, and even called my sister in law to confirm that this was, in actuality, the place. She urged us to walk in, and assured us that we would love the simple, home-cooked, delicious maharashtrian food. And I 'm so glad that we didn 't let the look of the place put us off, because the food is delicious. Don 't expect fancy fittings, and comfortable tapestried seating, don 't expect air conditioning, don 't expect uniformed servers. But judging by the number of people who came in their fancy cars in the short time that we were there, Homely Food is certainly well known. And rightly so. <br/ <br/ We had pomfret fry, kolambi masala (yummmmmmy gravy and very good sized prawns , brinjal subji (so good! , dal fry, plain rice, roti, and sol kadhi. We had ordered half plates of everything, and when we saw the ample quantity we asked again to verify that this really was a half plate portion of everything. Freshly cooked in the open kitchen, the food is simple and delicious, something that one would have very happily at the home of a maharashtrian friend whose 'aai ' excels in the kitchen. We had checked into one of the high end resorts in Lonavala, and, believe me, this meal was wayyyy better than any meal that we had at the resort. And certainly didn 't burn any hole in the pocket either!
Fresh fish and delicious Maharashtrian preparation will make you drool. Gomantak style , local and quick service. Prawn masala chicken dry were good.
Situated in a very quaint alley this is a must visit place for fish lovers. Since its open from 10am-3pm make sure to drop in early on weekends. Best bet to go on a weekday to avoid all the traffic and hustle and bustle of Lonavla. We ordered the Pomfret fry which was delish . The fish was fresh and well marinated and fried served piping hot. Also had Prawns curry
