Bidrage med feedbackI tried the new sushi chefs at this restaurant, Jason and Tommy are no longer there. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not up to par. The photos of my meal showed that there was no eel sauce on the Philly crunch roll, the mussels were burnt, and the salmon skin hand roll had soft, baked salmon instead of crispy skin. The only decent item was the half half hand roll. It seems like I will have to drive to Redondo Beach to see Jason, as I heard he is now working there. I recommend following the sushi chef for better quality sushi.
My friend and I came here one day for lunch because it 's close to work and because I remember attending a baby shower in one of it 's side rooms and I enjoyed the food. We ordered off the lunch special menu. My friend ordered a bento box and I ordered the chirashi. The fish selection in the chirashi were all very fresh. We also ordered the crispy rice as a small plate and it was delicious sushi rice topped with spicy tuna, avocado, and spicy ponzo. I could see myself eating plates of those. My friend enjoyed her bento box as well. The atmosphere is very sleek but gives more of a Japanese sushi bar feel rather than a bistro feel. It wasn 't very crowded during lunch time. Food came out quickly. The service was acceptable, nothing overwhelming except it take a while trying to find the server once were ready to get the check we had to return to work! lol) All in all I really enjoyed my lunch there and would love to come back for their happy hour.
A very cozy Japanese restaurant in the hood, place is good sized with a small sushi bar. Menu was mostly sushi and rolls, also specials of the night on blackboard, started off with bottle of cold sake, the sake list was decent with fair prices. The raw: Chef's assorted sashimi, blue fun tuna sashimi and mackerel sashimi: everything was so fresh, just the cuts were a little too thick to our liking. Fresh Uni bowl with rice and smelt fish eggs: so fresh and sweet, we loved it. Uni, spicy scallops and flying fish sushi: so tasty, we were very pleased with how fresh the raw was! A spicy sushi roll with spicy tuna and shrimp tempura: very spicy and comforting, perfect filler for us. The cooked: Samon skin salad was fairly delicious, the salmon skin was a bit burnt. Spicy tuna crispy rice was not bad, rice was a bit hard though. Deep fried shishamo was so yummy, I have always liked shishamo. Food was surprisingly tasty, especially the raw. Service was very attentive and friendly, we would definitely come back here from time to time.
Best honey salmon roll ever. It 's not raw, contains no rice, but is fried goodness. Loved it so much, I got another order of it as a dessert. I saw a lot of Yelpers recommend the Warm Spring Roll which is a fusion take on the Vietnamese roll. I thought it was unique, spicy and good but not a fave for me. Another surprise and our official fave roll is the Langostino Roll. This awesome roll was recommended by our really personable server. The sushi chefs are friendly and the service was very helpful and courteous. We arrived early around 5ish and got seated at the bar. We will definitely be back as this is one of our favorite sushi places in the South Bay.
YANAGI BISTRO is a friendly, good quality, Japanese restaurant in Torrance. We took our mom there who is wheelchair bound and they had the front door held open for us as we rolled her wheelchair towards the restaurant entrance. The service was attentive, friendly, and fast! We all had their tempura bento box set with sashimi, also served with salad and miso soup. My sister requested the pork tonkotsu, but had to go with the chicken katsu as they were out of pork katsu. We ordered one of their sashimi specialty plate of salmon with sesame oil and yuzu. I am a fan of anything yuzu so I thoroughly enjoyed this sashimi. I also enjoyed their ankimo all to myself as my sister doesn't like to venture beyond tuna sashimi. The ankimo (monkfish liver) was perfect! Their menu is typical Japanese with bento boxes, sashimi, sushi, udon, and roll combinations. We enjoyed their matcha tiramisu and I really had to call on every ounce of self control to not order another! That good! They also had a cannoli dessert on the menu but did not have it available when I ordered it. The restaurant has a contemporary friendly appeal. I would definitely come back but hope that next time more items on the menu would be available. . . And for sure, you can bet that I will not be sharing my matcha tiramisu!!
