Bidrage med feedbackI have ordered take away today, vegetarian fried rice and sweet and sour battered fish. Fried rice not upto the asian standards...no taste at all chunky pieces of vegies in the rice. No authentic chinese taste in the rice. Sweet n sour battered fish. Batter is larger than piece of fish. there was lots of sweet but sourness is missing from the fish.
We decided to catch a quick lunch here on Thursday 15th June 2017. This time, we opted for Cantonese Beef Ho Fun and Hainan Chicken Rice. The beef ho fun had a generous helping of thinly sliced beef which was tender. The taste of the dish with the flat rice noodles, egg and greens was rather nice. Some pickled green chillies would have been an ideal addition for this dish, as is commonly served in Malaysia and Singapore – but there was none provided. The Hainan chicken rice had a good helping of sliced steamed chicken on a bed of cucumber slices, with a chilli and ginger dip. The jasmine rice was served in a bowl. The taste of the tender chicken with the dip and rice was not bad at all. The good thing was that that there were no bones to contend with. The service from the waitress was good and the male cashier was courteous.
This restaurant is tucked away in a small shopping centre so parking is limited at busy times. Halal so no pork dishes offered. Portions are generous. The regular cook appears to have left more than a year ago and the taste of the dishes have suffered. That previous authentic Malaysian flavour turned into very average dishes. A good restaurant that became average. Disappointed.
My wife and I lunched here on Monday 20th March 2017. Our meals comprised gado gado and beef char kway teow. The gado gado, which originates from Indonesia, comprised puffed tofu, a boiled egg sliced in two, bean sprouts, beans, and sliced cucumber with satay sauce on top. This dish was quite palatable though the satay sauce was a bit sweetish – eating it with a bit of diced red chilles in soy sauce (which was kindly provided) vastly improved the taste. The beef char kway teow was quite tasty with subtle flavours reminiscent of what one would get from the hawker stalls in Malaysia and Singapore. This dish comprised fried flat rice noodles tossed with egg, chives, bean sprouts and slices of beef in a special dark soy sauce and other ingredients. Once again, the diced chillies in soy sauce, improved the taste appreciably. They could have had a bit more garlic chives in this dish though. Overall, this was a satisfying lunch at a restaurant that we visit now and again when the craving for Malaysian-style food hits us.
