Restaurang Hovarken - Lofsdalen

After you drop your ski boots you can have a hamburger in this restaurant, and if you are not a driver, can have a glass of whisky.

Ordered from their a la carte menu: 3 ’Högrev’ hamburgers, each with a side of fries. The fries were a complete fail (over fried approaching inedibly crunchy to their core) and the hamburger was so completely underwhelming that it reminded me of McDonalds’ one dollar cheeseburger. The bun was dry as a biscuit (perhaps it was an old and stale bun that was heated in a microwave oven) and the meat was miniscule (again, think McDonalds’ kiddy cheeseburger) and borderline gross. The crazy thing about the crappy hamburger combos at Hovarken was that they charged (SEK 165) the same as the same combo costs at most of Stockholm’s fantastic gourmet burger joints. Whaaa?!?! Such a darn disappointment. I could have puchased 8 mini fries mini cheeseburgers at McDonalds for the same price at one of Hovarkens Högrev burger combos and the crappy McDonalds’ food would’ve tasted and looked!! better. I’m part of a group of 4 in Lofsdalen for a full week of alpine cross country skiing. We always eat our lunches at a restaurant on piste when we ski. Lofsdalens ski resort is rather petit, including it’s on piste dining options, which makes scratching Hovarken from future lunches a drastic measure. But the place was such a rip off (dude, they can’t even do french fries!!! and the portions were eensy weensy small aside from being near burnt) that we won’t be back any time before the second coming even if they start giving away their so called food. Embarrassing rip off of a tourist trap indeed. I’ve learned to expect so much better fare for similar prices when sking at resorts all around northern Sweden. ÜberFail

The environment was quite beautiful, although somewhat ruined by the amount of people who stumbled in ski boots. eating was decent, but nothing special, very basic. nothing is wrong with it, but there is a lot missing. for the high prices, I don't think it was very worth it.

After-ski with bad troubadour and too loud music. The staff nicer than expected! Lunch good but a bit expensive.

Risotto was overhauled. not very nice customer experience.
