Rubens Coffee Shop - Liverpool

We dropped in mid afternoon for a rest and a cuppa. The tea and coffee were great as was the cake and the bagel we ate. Prices were reasonable and staff helpful and efficient.

Sadly not the best experience, although the food was tasty. When ordering our food we were informed that it would be around 30 minutes wait for the food. This was OK as we had time before having to be somewhere else. Sadly after 40 minutes we had to ask if the food was coming. We were informed it would possibly be another 10 minutes. It arrived nearly an hour after ordering. The service was not the best and I think some training would be beneficial to the young staff team, especially after seeing one of the waiting staff brushing her hair behind the counter.

Dreadful place, weak coffee, slow slow service, dirty crockery and cutlery. AVOID at all costs, no redeeming features

What a wonderful find. Staff went out of their way to make our light lunch a great experience. As a group of adults with special needs, we couldn’t have asked for better service provided in a friendly and professional manner

Visited on Sunday for a coffee and croissant. Excellent hot and tasty coffee and nice fresh croissant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decided on the strength of this to have brunch on Monday. Mistake. Coffee was tepid and not particularly tasty. Staff all different were off hand. Especially the manager ? who was strutting around very full of himself, but could only manage a desultory apology when I asked not unreasonably I think for fresh cutlery that didn’t have dried egg on it. And I had to fetch my own from the basket, although this may actually have been a blessing as I could select the best of the bunch. On the plus side the poached eggs were good fried unavailable and the bacon tasty. The sausages and tomato less so very high core to tomato ratio . One return visit too many unlike Arnold I won’t be back.
