Bidrage med feedbackWent to Roadhouse 23 on the edge of Listowel, on highway 23 for Father's Day with my mom
The food at this roadside restaurant is home made and delicious. The holiday Monday that we had lunch here, it was filled with locals and travellers “in the know”. We had the classic hot turkey sandwich, with coleslaw and fries, made with real turkey and with real gravy. We tried two kinds of pie for dessert: the strawberry rhubarb and the banana cream pie. Both pies were very good and tasted home-made. The service was attentive, and the food came quickly, despite the busyness of the restaurant. Lunch for two was reasonable at under $20. I wish there were more of these type of home-cooking restaurants, with food like Mom used to make, rather than the fast-food alternatives.
If you are wanting home cooking this is the place that you can go to. A few of us had breakfast and others had lunch which is nice that they will serve both at the same time. Pancakes were huge and grandson loved them. Soup was great and lots of meat on their sandwiches and clubs. Would go back again...good variety to choose from
Have gone their on Monday's when liver and onions are on special. Started to ask for more liver and they had no problem adding more for a little more money, but then the price went up for the additional helping, so have been cutting back on the visits. Came with desert, took rice pudding and cinnamon and drink. Friendly staff and check on you often. garlic bread is good.
During this past winter we went to this restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is very dated and seemed dingy. Staff were slow and disinterested. The food was not great. My husband was delivered one of his four sausage with no explanation that the others would follow. They in fact, arrived as he finished his meal.
