Portobello - LIPARI

After a long walk on Salina on a very hot day we stopped for lunch at Porto Bella. The food was delicious and the waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. Perfect end to our time on Salina!

We arrived and were given the worst table next to the entrance although there were at least 10 better tables still free. Explanation was that everybody else had reserved „a month ago“. Interestingly the name on our table was a completely different one (Matteo). Seems they don’t like foreigners any more. Other guest left as well because they were disappointed, one couple came back after the owner ran after them. Food was nowhere as good as it used to be either. Very very disappointing as this used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Äölian Isöands.

Nice view on the harbor, nice location, reasonable service, low food quality, definitely overpriced. It is the first the restaurant you see when you arrive, take your time and look around before choosing.

This is one of the oldest restaurants on Salina and I can see why it’s stayed around so long. The restaurant is set on the harbor and everything they serve is great quality. The crudo appetizer was incredible and the pasta’s we both had were some of my favorite on the Aeolians. The riccota and honey dessert was simple but delicious. I would definitely come back here for dinner or lunch.

Staff here were very accommodating and were quick to act when the weather turned. The food was average compared to some competitors but very well presented!
