I've been there last night of my stay. The location is convenient (very close to the university). Ordered goulash soup and wiener schnitzel.. with local beer... very good .. a nice surprise!
Had gone there for a Sunday lunch. I had ordered a coffee and a chicken pasta. It tasted good and was very filling. The staff was very friendly and refused to take any tips.
My husband had eaten at Café Cello several times last year during his visit to Linz. He enjoyed the food very much; and we decided to return so that I could try it. The restaurant is not fancy and that evening it was very quiet....The chef/owner is VERY cordial and accommodating. He showed us some of the dishes he had prepared for other guests and they were very professionally, beautifully presented. My husband ordered a Rump Roast (beef) and I decided on the Schnitzel. Both dishes were very good and the portions were very, very big. The restaurant Cello is very close to the Sommerhaus Hotel and is within walking distance. Unfortunately it is hidden by trees and shrubs and can be difficult to find. The restaurant specializes in seafood - fish, etc. and is more Mediterranean cuisine; but offers the traditional Bavarian fare as well. Sheba's Notes: Cello is NOT a fancy restaurant. However, it is comfortable and inviting. They can serve larger groups or families. The owner/chef is a very nice man who takes great pride in his food preparation. There is a small patio behind the restaurant for outdoor seating. Highly recommended for delicious food without the fancy atmosphere.
