Bidrage med feedbackWe were in search of a lobster dinner and stumbled upon the Lobster Pound. It was my first time trying a whole lobster, and it was fantastic! My friend and I shared the twin lobster meal, which included two small lobsters, a generous serving of red skin potatoes, and two half ears of corn. It was the perfect amount for us to split. I highly recommend it!
I visited the restaurant with a group of nine for lunch and overall had a nice experience. The fried scallops and shrimp rolls were fantastic. The scallops were large, lightly breaded, and cooked to perfection. However, at $32 for just 8 ounces, it is definitely on the expensive side (and that doesn't include any sides). On the other hand, the clam chowder was a bit of a letdown. It lacked a rich, deep flavor and was mostly made up of potatoes. Additionally, everyone in our group pushed away their coleslaw because it had an odd taste. It didn’t seem to be spoiled, but the flavor or recipe just didn’t work.
First and last visit. The chowder was cold and no evidence of clams. The $35 lobster roll was all small claws. We did not receive any utensils or napkins even though we asked the server. After a long wait, and being bypassed by the server, went tothe bartender for help?she immediately solved the napkin problem. That said, counter hostess and bartender personable and veryhelpful. Overall assessment, for the money we would expect better quality seafood, especially on the coast of Maine.
The only significant downside was the unhelpful demeanor of the assistant manager, Althea. When we asked her a question, she was quite rude and raised her voice, showing evident impatience. Another staff member who witnessed this felt uncomfortable and even apologized to us for Althea's behavior. It seems that the management may be under a lot of stress. You place your order at the counter, after which you seat yourself and help yourself to napkins and water, which was fine. Fortunately, once we did see a younger server, she was cheerful, friendly, and eager to help. Overall, we enjoyed our experience enough that we would consider returning.
