Bidrage med feedbackWhat a wonderful spot. It is at the bottom of the ski run that is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic atmosphere and gives a truly authentic Austrian feel and experience. Often the best menu items are there specials that you need to ask about. A truly wonderful experience where nearly everything is above expectations…
Rating only average for the cozy hut with a fireplace, but poor for the rest. Went at different occasions, had food (Gröstl) that looked and tasted at least one day old except for the egg on top and the garnish. Some staff seem to have a grip on their job, others absolutely not. Waiters definitely could do with some grooming and showers.
Pay attention to what you order! Look at the menu first. The manager of the hut is a good story teller and suggested us to take a good bottle of white wine (in fact we came for just an after ski-drink). We asked for some cheese to go along... But what we got was a huge cheese platter with bread and dips... not just a snack but a meal ... . Not what we wanted... the waiter was kind of agressive... . Big surprise when the bill came. 70 eur for the cheese, 49 eur for the bottle of wine and 10 eur TIP money (without asking). We just wanted to have a drink (4 glasses of white wine) and in the end we paid 129 eur ... Very disappointing. We'll never go back again. Nice setting, but overpriced and dishonest.
The Kitzalm Restaurant is a place that I strongly advise against visiting. Despite being located in a nice place and having a decent terrace that is in the sun, I cannot recommend it. I should have read the reviews on Google and TripAdvisor beforehand, because they are all true. The food takes forever to come, and the prices are outrageous. We ordered an appetizer board for two people they charged €225 (see photo, the food was good, but the price for what you get is outrageous! and the owner even suggested his own absurd tip. All the prices on the menu card are beyond belief. There are so many better places than this one. If you happen to find yourself here, just order water or use the restroom and skip this restaurant as fast as you can! If you have lunch anyway, ask for a bill since they will not give this to you…. Be aware!
Horrible experience by owner/manager. Our group of 6 (3 couples) stopped here for some lunch. It was quite busy but we spotted a table where people were getting up to leave. It was on the corner, and without thinking, I went to the table (outside corner) still with my skis on to ask if we could have the table when they finished. The wooden decking was covered in snow, and looked to be part of the piste (same level, you could just ski onto it). All other restaurants we visited had cleared the outside areas so it was obvious where to take skis off. A horribly angry man came over and shouted straight in my face to get my skis off. I immediately apologised and started to move towards the ski rack area. There were people in front so I stopped to wait. The next thing was a load more abuse and a shove in the back. While I stowed my skis, another member of the party was told by the same man, they couldn’t have the table, they needed to book. On ‘booking’ with another member of staff, we were given the same table……. You are probably thinking we were mad to stay after this, but we were hungry and needing a rest. Service was very slow, I think on purpose. Other tables were served first. Staff unfriendly. Food was OK but very expensive (11.20 Euro for goulash soup, most other places charging between 6 and 8 Euro). When we finally got the bill (waitress purposely took orders from neighbouring table first, then walked away again), the original nasty chap returned to take payment. He refused to spit the bill so I paid with my card. He asked how much I was going to tip, I said nothing, due to the unpleasant slow service. I was again met with a torrent of abuse. I left with a very nasty taste in my mouth (from vile treatment rather than the soup). Needless to say we passed his restaurant many more times during the week when he was much quieter and maybe could have done with some customers. Far nicer places with nicer staff further up the mountain.
