Brasserie du Lycee - Libourne

Came by this place while strolling about libourne . between us we had duck , lamb and salmon . all three meals were very good as were the deserts . staff were as helpful as they could with their little english and my even less...french

Visited several times this summer for Sunday lunch. Always take the days 3 course menu for €19. but also has good a la carte choices. The food always presented with flair and tastes super. Friendly staff top of this lovely restaurant

This is at the top end of the main shopping precinct, just opposite the college, Max Linder Lycee. Being called the 'College Brasserie ' (Brasserie du Lycee) you might be forgiven for thinking it would be full of college students. No such thing, not today anyway... though there were lots of students outside on the pedestrianised area. Inside it was mainly professional people shoppers. There is a lot of seating outside probably wonderful on a Summer afternoon, but this is November we ate inside. We chose the set lunch menu (16 Euros, November 2016) weren 't disappointed. 3 starters to choose from, 2 mains (It should have been Trout or Tagliatelle but the Trout was finished we had salmon). Good service, good food, good value. Some English spoken by the staff, that always helps. Furnishings, table décor, utensils etc all on the high side of average, as I say, don 't let the name 'Lycee ' lead you to believing its a student hangout. Well worth a try.

Lovely, everything overseeing, waitress, dog friendly and all! Had lunch twice and everything was according to standards : generous portions (salads, fish or meat), fresh ingredients and extremely good value for money. The steak tartare was sublime : nicely cut meat of good quality with...all the condiments that you need. Parking on the square is free on Saturday on top.

The food was acceptable but the service was unbelievable. We live in France so expect leisurely service. But this was incredible. The staff did not have a clue. My meal (a salad! came after over an hour with items missing. There are so many other...restaurants in Libourne so give this one a miss!
