Bidrage med feedbackWhat a relaxing and enjoyable stay here at Tonic. I had to find a place last minute as my business trip got extended and Terri the manager was beyond friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable and the dinner I had hit the spot! If I ever find myself in Lexington, VA again I will most definitely be resting my head at Tonic!
Perhaps due to its recent reopening, the restaurant seemed to be experiencing some growing pains. They were understaffed, overbooked, and seated us in the upstairs annex. It took 20 minutes for a server to finally approach our table after I had to flag someone down. The service did improve slightly but remained lacking due to the understaffing. They botched my wife's drink order and the only bottle of Cabernet they had was the most expensive option (luckily it was a good choice so we didn't mind splurging). The menu was uninspiring, so we settled on trying out a couple of interesting-looking burgers. While the waffle fries we ordered as a side were decent, the burgers were poorly executed, overly dry, and ultimately not appetizing. Despite all this, I still managed to finish my meal, but couldn't help but feel that there were better dining options in town. Perhaps with time and a new chef, the restaurant could improve its offerings.
This restaurant is really cool. The dining area was very nice!
I reserved the patio at what was then the Sheridan (now called Tonic) for my son's wedding rehearsal luncheon in June 2019, scheduled for May 2020. When Covid-19 hit, I had difficulty reaching anyone at the restaurant to cancel or reschedule the event. After a month and a half of trying, I finally managed to get in touch with someone in mid-May, who confirmed they would honor my deposit and we could rebook for September. The communication was slow and there was no set menu package due to Covid-19, which was frustrating. The food was average, with my husband even finding his salad wilted. Despite requesting for 37 servings, we only had 2 servers for 35 guests, making it challenging for them. I ended up being charged for 37 servings, as I failed to mention that 2 guests were children who did not attend. I was surprised by the high cost of the luncheon, considering the limited menu and lack of dessert or beverages for half of the guests, which came to roughly $45 per person. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and expensive.
Great place for a quiet dinner. The food is very good and the cocktails were great! Looking forward to returning to dine on the terrace.
