Bidrage med feedbackMy wife and I have been going to Sumay for years and years. The owners are fantastic and there isn't a better burger anywhere. Trust us and get a burger! Small warning: the Pika Burger is spicy. I love spicy food, so I always get the Pika Bacon Cheese. My wife isn't a fan of spicy food, so she does not get the Pika burger.
The hours are tricky. It's taken us months to try to go here. The days we tried lunch, it was closed. The days we tried dinner it was closed. We never knew. When the typhoon cleared, I had the smart idea to call ahead and see if they were open. So, we finally went. The service was quick. Albeit, there was no one else there dining but 1 man at the bar. There was only 1 person working as both server, bartender, and waitress.... Had there been more ppl I can see how service may slow down. The food was so delicious. We had jalapeño poppers, mushroom poppers, bacon cheeseburger, Pika Bacon cheeseburger, and waffle fries. Jalapeño poppers are not my thing. It's like friend cream cheese with a hint of jalapeño. I didn't like them but my husband thought they were awesome. The Pika ranch that comes with then is really good. Gives it a really strong kick. I recommend with the fries. The mushroom poppers we're good with the ranch. Alone, they are a but flavorless. It's just breaded mushroom. Didn't taste like they added seasoning to the batter or anything. The burgers were delicious. The patties tastes like they were handmade and fried. They were not greasy and the buns were not falling a part like in some establishments. The bun stayed crispy until the last bite. I found that to be important. They were lacking on the bacon. It felt like each burgers has no more of 2 slices. Barely present. But didn't not take away from the flavor at all. The best part of the meal were the waffle fries. Great seasoning, crisped just right. We devoured them with our 2 year old. We would go back just for the fries.
Sumay Pud Grill welcome to the jungle baby! A little out of the way shake featuring burgers and anything frie from potatoes, Jalapeno, mushrooms and onion rings! The burger was good but not my kind of burger. I call it a meatloaf burger. That when you put so many spices in the ground beef, it overwhelmed the ground beef taste. The fries were good and the fried mushrooms with ranch dressing were the hit on this parade of of burger joints in Guam. The looks like it would be a fun spot at night when the band was playing and the beer would be flown. It's seems to me this is more of a bar and dance spot then a burger joint.
Love their dollar decor. It's so cool to see so many different people have visited from everywhere. Their food was decent, what you'd expect for the type of place it was. Prices were very fair. Only downside is it can get hot, even with the fans.
The bartender, who was also the only staff member on hand, seemed quite distant. He spent most of his time on his phone and only provided other customers with straws and cans, while we had to ask for cups with ice. He pulled out some old plastic cups, rinsed them off, and served us, even though clean disposable cups were readily available at the bar. Service definitely gets no stars from me. I still left a tip, though—perhaps he just doesn’t enjoy his job. Now, let's get to the food. I ordered the Pika bacon burger and the fish and chips. Keep in mind that the burger doesn't come with fries, which makes it feel a bit overpriced at around $10. But don't let that deter you. This burger is deliciously soft and packs a spicy punch! It hit me right away, and while I enjoyed it, those who aren’t fans of spicy food should steer clear—you’ve been warned! I couldn’t taste the sauce much, so I’m not sure if that helped or hindered the burger. The fries were excellent—crispy and perfectly cooked, with not a single soggy one in sight, earning them top marks! The waffle fries are similar to the criss-cross fries at King's, so if you’ve tried those, you know what to expect. I’m not looking to overindulge in fried food, but if I do, it better be crispy! The fish was also crispy but quite thin, making it a bit lacking as a meal on its own. Overall, it's great bar food in a warm setting with subpar service. I would definitely return just for the burgers!
