Newhaven Fish - Lewes

Visited as recommended and for a Monday evening had a steady trade so a promising start. Ordered and was told 10 minutes, my response was as long as it's cooked doesn't matter how long . The fish was thick ,moist and flaky, unfortunately nothing else was good. Batter soft and wet ,chips under cooked,great shame as given the time to cook properly I am certain it would have been very good. Tried their GF night and it was really great! The fish was well cooked and the 'breading ' was as good or better than the non-gf version! It 's worth a try even if you aren 't gluten free. We were really impressed with the GF curry sauce as well! Dietary restrictions: They do a GF night every 2 weeks, it 's so great. Gross Inedible. All overcooked, poor quality, poor service, very slow, limited opening hours. Will not return, regret spending £11 on a meal 'deal ' there. Oh and they forgot to put salt and vinegar on it after asking.. Which I 'm sure you 'll all agree is the worst part of this! Newhaven is not a place I have ever visited or ever intend to visit again. It's not the nicest seaside towns. Feels a bit rough round the edges. But the best thing about Newhaven is the fish bar. Large flakes of delicious white cod in a crispy batter and a good portion of chips made this chippy well worth a visit! Staff were friendly and price was reasonable. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2

My Favourite chippy on the coast. Parking is difficult but if you drive to the end of the road there is a massive car park overlooking the English Channel where you can eat your takeaway Mind the seagulls!! Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
