Au Vieux Duluth - Lévis

During a brief stay in Levis, Que. we tried this place out. It was in a mall next to a movie theatre. NO WINE LIST - BRING YOUR OWN. Steaks were cooked fine but plates were muddled with confusing accompaniments. Make sure you ask for a wait staff that speaks English (unless you speak French) and mind the F-C idioms (pomme du terre = les patate). Food was satisfactory, service on the slow side and pricing was moderate. Think might be better places the next time we visit there.

On a recent trip to Quebec City we tried Au Vieux Duluth and it was a mistake. Our meal was average at best. I had the pork wrapped in bacon which sounded good but poorly executed. The bacon was not crisp but rubbery and flaccid while the pork loin overdone. It was covered in a gravy hiding any taste of the pork. My wife had a similar experience with her dish. Service was just adequate and certainly not friendly. There are much better choices in the area...

Service is pleasant and fast plus your plate is exactly the way you like it. people are always nice and glad to see you.

We went to Au Vieux Duluth on advice from the hotel. I had the spanakopita vegetarian entree -it was cold, limp and no taste. Mostly Spanakopita is crispy and very tasty. I have bought it frozen at Costco and it was much better! We waited a long time for our meals and our server never came by to tell us why it was taking so long. Once she brought the food she never came back to check how the meals were. I ate VERY little of my meal and told her when she came to take the plates that it was not good-no comment from her at all! The first time ever we have not left a tip-even if the food is not good we tip for the service but this was very bad service as well. Would never return.
