Sam's Donairs Ltd - Lethbridge

Best dinner I've ever had aside from Halifax itself.

Donairs are not bad, but they could be much better. The meat is cut too thick and must be more consistent cutting. There is relatively no vegetables and excuse me, but cheese does not belong on a donair, it should not even be a...option. Halifax Donairs is ashamed of this and I care that they are baptized as a Halifax style. I grew up in NS, and even a bad Donair there is much better, and a better price, all at Sam's. The Jumbo Donair should have about twice the meat and vegetables as you get. Two Jumbo Donairs costs almost $30 and should not be more than $20 for what you get.

If you compare this review with what I wrote in February 2017, you can get a feeling of what Skip the Dishes does with restaurant service in the last 2 1/2 years in Lethbridge. I had 3 bad experiences in the last six months, so that's not a kind of incident. We waited 30 minutes for 2 Pitas with Pommes on Friday night at 6:00. We were not warned that it would wait long when we ordered. The staff did not notify us at all during our visit. There was only one other table eating when we arrived and 1 waiting when we were gone. While we were there, 3 bullets went out when they said there was a 20-minute waiting time. It's ridiculous to have 1 chef on Friday on the grill for dinner. This restaurant has great food and there is no other with a similar product in the city, but I no longer feel that my business is appreciated or that I support a family business. $31 for 2 Pitas, frozen Pommes and 2 bottles of water is expensive. One hour is a long time to have a meal in a fast food environment. 1 more staff would make a lot difference. This was formerly an exceptional family business, but now it is just a good tasting over-price pita with lousy customer service.

I almost couldn't eat the worst food. The Donairs were all meats not to find real vegetables. The few pieces of wild iceberg salad and the one piece of tomatoes were terrible. I don't think they're checking the quality of their vegetables. I know they don't keep their deep hair at the right pace because the deep fried mushrooms we ordered were still frozen. It won't be back. Not recommended. You're friendly enough and nice place, but the food is terrible.
