La Pizza è Bella Gourmet - Les Houches

Came here for our valentines meal, the restaurant is small with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. We enjoyed their local white wine which was infused with basil. We chose the set menu which was good value, though limited options. They also do some vegetarian options in the normal menu which is good to see.

Les Houches is a funny place, no real centre just a long strip of chalets and a diminishing number of hotels, so its great to discover there is still the good amongst the bad in terms of traditional savoie grub. You will need to book, but the wait and the food are worth it.

TripAdvisor highly recommends reserving through the app, so we did: 19:30 confirmation for 20:00 dinner. We travelled there, got to the door, and when I told him we reserved a table for 4, he said that unfortunately they didn’t have a table for us. He asked if I reserved via the Fork app, and when I said yes he said that the Fork app confirms reservations without notifying the restaurant, and that he has actually been turning lots of people away all summer. Thing is, the app only works as well as the restaurants that they work with. It’s simple: as the restaurant fills tables, they update their availabilities. He said that they can’t manage to check their reservations once service starts. But that little effort would resolve all problems. But restaurant owners like this who probably are technology adverse, or who struggle with managing their restaurant efficiently, end up admitting to knowingly turning away customers all summer. So unfortunately I can’t comment on the food but I can say that turning customers away when they have reservations from the restaurant is a serious problem. My suggestion would be to make sure you reserve over the phone.

A welcome to the little onions, a warm team, a warm atmosphere, delicious and hearty dishes. We came several times and with pleasure we will come back. I recommend 300%!!! A must if you pass through the scenes.
