After exploring numerous gourmet restaurants in Quebec and experiencing some of the most delicious food we have ever tasted, my husband and I were eager to visit another one.
I went to Quebec to try out new things, but instead, I found myself in my hotel room surrounded by hungover relatives on a Friday morning.
I have tried the Manoir for breakfast and supper. Neither were good. The service was far from top notch either time. I was particularly dissapointed with the Sunday brunch. The only good thing on the whole spread were fruits. The stack of plates to use for the buffet had 1 or 2 fruit flies each, somehow even the plates below the top one had them. There were some plates stacked on top of the buffet cart and these were virtually full of dead fruit flies. That didn't help the meal to start well. However, we found a plate sans flies and decided to stay and give it a go. Bacon was like a ruler, no flavor and totally dried up, kind of warm. They had eggs benedict pre-made complete with Holandaise to ensure a soggy English muffin covered with a cold piece of ham and a poached egg that looked like it was made in a microwave. Many other items, salmon, salads, cold cuts, etc.....but nothing of value. However, the greatest sin of all.....the crepes. I saw a large plate of rolled crepes sitting in their syrup. If anyone has ever been to the Frontenac or the Casino at Charlevoix....the crepes presented in this manner are absolutely outstanding. I took a couple on my plate and quickly learned that they were soaking in FREAKING TABLE SYRUP. This is Quebec City, there are maple shacks within a two minute drive of this place, there are several maple trees on location. This is completely unacceptable. The one chance they had to redeem themselves after everything else being terrible was destroyed. (Have you guess yet I am a big fan of crepes and maple syrup?)Anyway, don't bother with this place, go to the marina and walk around it is quite scenic but don't waste your money on this restaurant.
