Bidrage med feedbackMost interesting place to eat. head waiter was good, and overwhelmed, his back up was as well, the person filling water glass was on point.empty dishes left on table,no return after food service, I like fresh ground pepper. we had one really unplesant dish chicken, rolled up chicken stuffed, the only flavor that one could taste was rosemary , the chicken was dry and chewy. Sad $44.00, all portions were small, preparation of the other dishes were excellent. especially the sweet breads . I have not had them better, steak the best, veal was on point. don't miss this beautiful eating establishment, I would like to spend an evening there.
First time back to Horned Dorset in 30 years. Has not lost a step.... a truly outstanding restaurant in a historic building in rural upstate NY. We were celebrating 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet dinner for our brother sister in law. Each course was expertly prepared from the first to the last. We each ordered different first and second courses and a mix of choices for the final course. The souffle was excellent. We ordered both white and red wines the wine list was a nice mix and priced well for the clientele. All in all a lovely evening with the attentive service you would expect from a restaurant of the Horned Dorset's reputation and caliber. If we are back in the area we definitely will return, and would recommend it without reservation.
A fine dining experience in this neck of the woods!? It's amazing though. The place is made to showcase classical-styled wooden architecture and local artwork. Old fashioned white glove dining that most folks would associate with dining on the Titanic. Good food, very professional service and amazing atmosphere. Dress to impress. There's kind of an art museum upstairs, worth checking out. Outside there is a lovely manicured garden that I didn't get to check out this time, but will make a point of seeing next time.
Opening weekend at The Horned Dorset something we look forward to every year! Great options for specialty cocktails (I highly recommend The Aviation. The sea scallops were delicious as was the beef medallions. And the best was saved for last the souffle. It was a perfect birthday dinner.
My adult daughter and I just spent the most glorious New Year’s Eve at the Horned Dorset Inn. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Roberta, the proprietor. She gave us a tour of her beautiful B B that is so meticulously decorated yet so homey and comfortable. Roberta answered all of our questions and we were on our way to enjoy the Munson Museum and GlimmerNights at the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown-each a reasonable drive from the Horned Dorset. Our room was just beautiful—so much to experience in the way of furnishings along with an amazingly comfortable bed. The next day, New Year’s Eve, we drove to Colgate University’s lovely campus and then saw a movie in town. We returned to the Horned Dorset to rest up for our six-course meal at their own restaurant. What an experience!! The venue is lovely. We were invited to look around and to visit the artist colony exhibit upstairs. The food was beyond amazing-not enough space here to do it justice. The chef and staff were professional yet friendly and bent over backwards to ensure every guests’ needs were met. Both mornings, my daughter and I were greeted by Roberta and/or Kingsley. They made us a wonderful breakfast and we had such interesting conversation. This mini vacation turned into a peaceful respite as we enjoyed the inn and the surrounding areas. I couldn’t imagine a better way to start 2024!!
